Each box dates from the early 1950's and contains a large sheet of famous paintings and small books with the history of each painting. The paintings are actually "stickers" that must be moistened and attached in each book.
The boxes look like books, but open up to reveal small books.
The boxes are embossed with "METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART - Album of Miniatures"
Here is a close up of one of the sticker sheets.
Here are a few examples of some of the books inside.
Some of the books have the stickers attached inside and some do not. My original intent was to cut these up and use the miniature stickers as artwork in some of my miniature houses and scenes. (Unless I discover that these are actually worth something!)
You always manage to find the coolest stuff!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous find. It is great when you come across something like this for miniatures. Your future builds will be set for artwork.
