Window Trim
I found these plaster window sills and heads at a sale not too long ago for a dollar, so I couldn't pass them up. I figured that I could probably use them somewhere.
I still had a some mold making supplies from a Sonia Messer Repair project a while back.
To see it, click HERE
The first step was to make a mold of the existing pieces. The kit comes with a two part putty that you knead together. (it sets up pretty quickly)
Once the mold material set up, I mixed a two part resin and poured it in. As you can see, it starts out clear.
As the resin begins to set up, it changes to a white color, literally before your eyes.
This is the window sill right out of the mold. It has a few pieces that need to be trimmed off and it need to be sanded.
This image shows the new resign pieces on top and the original plaster pieces below. They are not quite as crisp as the originals, but they will do.
This is a picture of one of the trim pieces above the existing windows in the Kage House. I am still shocked that it is almost a perfect fit. The Kage house has 22 windows so I better get busy!

Recent Acquisitions
I have acquired a few new things here and there.
I found this Sonia Messer living room furniture on Ebay. The rocking horse and mirror are Christmas tree decorations that I picked up at an estate sale.
As it turned out, a fellow blogger was selling the living room furniture and she recognized my name. She was nice enough to throw in a few extra things and some missing parts that I needed on another project!
The pieces all still have the Sonia Messer Block House labels

The rocking horse and mirror are both plastic, but look like wood
I am considering the hobby horse in my Kage house ?
The mirrow might work out in the Kage house too -
I like it here or perhaps as a ceiling medallion?

In other news, I came across this plastic dollhouse from the late 1970's. As it turns out, it is the house that goes with the furniture I uses for my Star Wars figures in my youth.

Kage Furniture Revisited
Kage Co. 3/4" to one foot furniture was manufactured in Manchester, Connecticut between 1938-1948. Living room, dining room, bedroom and kitchen furniture were all manufactured and accessories such as fireplaces, lamps, and clocks were also sold. From what I can tell my collection is only missing a few pieces - the grandfather clock and the coffee table.
Early pieces had legs manufactured with straight dowels, but later more ornate turned legs were used. None of the pieces has working doors or drawers.

I have been working on a townhouse for my Kage collection. It is a work in progress.

This last picture shows one of the first Kage pieces that I acquired. The table and chair were part of my great grandmother's and currently reside in the nursery of this house that my daughter and I built. To see more pictures of this house click HERE

Kage House Exterior
I had a little time today to work on the Kage House Exterior.
I covered the foam core with a textured grey paper. I wanted a stucco look.
I am debating on whether or not to draw some lines to make it look like stone ?
After the paper was installed I laid out the wood stained windows and decided that I didn't like the wood grain on the exterior, so I painted one side of them.
The interior will remain wood.
The shadows that the windows cast on the interior were great!
The interior is coming along nicely too.
This room below will be the library

A Good Day For Miniatures
It is a cold snowy day here in Oklahoma so I have a little time to stay inside and play.
I am still in the process of figuring out what wall paper and what fabric I have to use for each room in the Kage House.
This is the nursery. I have settled on this pink print and a textured blue fabric for the floor. The small is cradle is not Kage, but it is the right scale!
The house is taking shape. I dragged out a few accessories for inspiration. The difficult thing with this furniture is trying to find wall coverings and window coverings that will help show off the furniture and not compete with it.
I did finish the wood floors in the living room and dining room.

Kage House Update
I had a little time this week to make some progress on the Kage House.
I am using foam core for this project.
The look I am shooting for is an Art Deco, urban, brownstone type feel.
I had to "play" a little to make sure I had the scale of the rooms correct.
Nothing glued yet, just held in place with pins.
This is the living room just off the entry
This last picture shows the Front entry with the living room on the left. The formal dining room will be on the right.
