Glitter Houses 2017

This is the design that I came up with a design for our glitter house get-together this year with the family.

I put the design in AutoCAD and optimized it to fit as many pieces as I could on a sheet.

The over several days, cut out the pieces with a sharp xacto knife and assembles kits.

Here are the door and window frames waiting to be cut out

We invited the family over to have treats and assemble the houses!

Our first step and the hardest decision was to choose a color scheme. The next step was to fold the roof pieces and paint them.  Then we painted and folded the walls and window trim pieces and glued them together with craft glue.  It was neat to see everyone's personality come through in their design.

After the houses were dry, we coated with watered down glue and glitter, then glued to a base and added bottle brush trees and decorations.

Glitter Village Part 2

We had the opportunity to finish up our glitter house projects this week.
We glued them to a base made of foam core and added some accessories.

Glitter Houses

We had the family over today for Sunday dinner.   Before dinner, we had some fun building glitter or putz houses.  I have always been fascinated by them.

I came up with some ideas and drew them out in AutoCAD

Next I figured out a way to fit all of the pieces on 8.5" X 11" sheets of paper so that I could print them out.

I printed the design on thick card-stock and cut out the pieces.  I was kind of under a time crunch, next time I will design the buildings and cut them out on a laser cuter.  I made a kit of parts for each guest.

It was a great project for all ages from my youngest niece Emma age 4 ( in pink)-
up to Grandma ( who would kill me if I posted her age)

More pictures later after we finish up !
