Strombecker started manufacturing 3/4" to one foot scale wood furniture in 1934. They continued to manufacture variations of the 3/4" scale furniture into the 1950's. There were updates to the designs in the 1940's and again in the 1950's. The furniture was sold in box sets for each room. According to Dian Zillner's book Dollhouse Furniture & Advertising, the sets sold for .47 cents in the 1930's, $1.39 for each room set in the 1940's and $2.49 for each room set in the 1950's.
These pieces are from the MODERN SUN ROOM SET and were part of the "New Modern Design" which rolled out in 1938.

Hello troy,
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful. I especially love the sun room set and it makes me smile to think how similar modern in 1938 is to modern in 2016.
Big hug

Great collection and in wonderful condition! I have some chairs that are similar to the sun room furniture. Now wondering if they are Strombecker...hmmmm.

Troy, I don't know if you answer questions on here, but I'm hoping so. Up above, in your pic of random painted Strombecker pieces, you have 2 plant stands and an orange end table. Some time ago, I saw these pieces displayed in a house. I can't remember WHAT house, but these pieces were specifically painted for the sunroom or solarium of that house. My question is: do you know which house they came with, or what other pieces of furniture go with the planter stand and table? You are missing the planter for your stand, but in another house, I saw a bowl on one of those plant stands.
