Now that I have all these doors and windows, I was anxious to get started.
I started with the doors, then the windows, then the window frames. The first coat isn't as dark as I would like it to be, but I will have to take a look at it after it dries. I used a cherry finish, but perhaps I may have to go over it with mahogany. I would like it to match the stain on the furniture.
My design is to glue the wooden grid ( upper right) on the outside of the house with a piece of clear plastic behind it. On the interior of the house, I will glue the window frame ( upper left )

Hello Troy,
ReplyDeleteThey looks just wonderful. The black painted door is gorgeous!
Big hug,
Giac
I really like what you are doing here. That gate is the best! I looked at the Kage furniture. Are there any markings. Seems I might have some of them in my stash somewhere.
ReplyDeleteSadly, there are no markers on Kage. I think that I have almost every piece. I have my eyes out for a few that I am missing: A grandfather clock, a fold-up desk and I have seen a kitchen cupboard. There are a a few variations and different fabrics. Florine has a great collection on her blog here:http://my-vintage-dollhouses.blogspot.com/2014/02/kage-furniture-in-keystone-of-boston.html
DeleteHey Troy.
ReplyDeleteHow sturdy is it ? brittle ? assuming its all wood
Mario
Hi Mario, yes they are pretty delicate. I think next time I will use thicker wood.
DeleteNice work Troy. So many great possibilities with laser cutting! I like that you're using double layers to give them some depth. The house will look great with these detailed doors and windows.
ReplyDeleteIs the house 3/4 scale to go with the furniture? Those windows are very elegant!
ReplyDeleteYes 3/4 scale, but I have ended up making the rooms a little larger than originally planned. Each room is about 8" X 11" and 8" tall. Originally I was going to make the rooms 6" tall, but I felt like you couldn't see the back of each room with the low ceiling I am hoping for an Art Deco urban loft kind of feel
